Poem

A tale of a sea…

Everyone was given a small boat and the light of a little candle is lit in the front.

We mostly sail in the same seas, same direction .. but we hardly paddle ourselves. We lay down in the boat, aimless lifeless living beings.. we seldom sit up to see in which sea are we sailing and what direction are we taking, its comforting enough to know most other boats are nearby, the light from the many candles is strong .. so its the right place.

But I saw him sailing away to unknown seas, calmly paddling, one time to the right another to the left, then one more time to the right.. never looking back…

Gradually the lights of others’ candles faded away, and only a few candles were visible to us.

I lay down in the boat, aimless lifeless living being, only once I sat up and looked back.. not objecting and aimlessly I lay down again in my boat and let him paddle.

I wondered many times if I was dead, when poking myself I realise I am not dead, I wondered why am I not paddling? why am I laying down?

boooooom…

I throw myself out of the boat, weak, not knowing how to swim.. I start swimming anyway.

He throws himself in the water too, and together we swim to the invisible unknown shore.

And we arrive.

Or did we?

Come away with me-Norah Jones
