A tale of compassion

Heading out for my daily walk in an attempt to regain my full range of mobility after my skiing accident, my rituals would start from trying to race with a little butterfly, feeding some grass to the horses from the horse riding school and catching my breath listening to the birds singing to my heartbeat while having my Fika (Swedish term for coffee with a bun or cake) in the nearby cafe by the water.

Despite my claimed generosity with the horses, I get irritated by the bunch of little birds uninvited trying to eat my Fika, but having a second thought “yea, why not? what is enough for a human is enough for a human plus 14 tiny birds”… and so I share my bun with them.

One little bird sceptically approaches me, it keeps making a strange sound as it rapidly shakes its wings but not flying away yet not making any attempt to catch the pieces of bread though being an inch away from its tiny feet. Come on the little guy, pick it up.. can’t you see it? I ask …

A few moments and the answer comes to me when another little bird confidently approaches me, pick up as many pieces of bread it’s beak can fit, it does not eat them but instead rushes to the shaky bird and start feeding it..!
